“Seven Steps to Jaco” – A Tribute to Jaco Pastorius
Guitarist Pat Metheny once wrote that “Jaco Pastorius may well have been the last jazz musician of the 20th century to have made a major impact on the musical world at large. He simply played his ass off, in a way that was totally unprecedented on his instrument, or on any instrument for that matter.”
Musicians, friends and family joined forces on June 22, 2005 to pay tribute to the “world’s greatest bass player” at The Beacon Theatre as part of the JVC Jazz Festival. The event featured Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Christian McBride, Jeff Berlin, Richard Bona, Oteil Burbridge, Avishai Cohen, Matthew Garrison, Will Lee, Felix Pastorius, Gerald Veasley with Don Alias, Randy Brecker, Hiram Bullock, Kenwood Dennard, Ira Sullivan, Othello Molineaux, Julius Pastorius, Lenny White and Gil Goldstein.
